What is the difference between a Transport and Certificate of Title?

In Guyana, we have a system of land registration/ownership, which by virtue of our historic colonial experience, is primarily an admixture of Roman Dutch and English law system of land registration.

A Transport is a title document showing ownership of private property and originals introduced under the Roman Dutch law. A Certificate of Title to Land is a title document showing ownership of private property introduced under the English Law system, introduced subsequent to the Roman Dutch system of Transport. These two land registration systems are nearly indistinguishable, however, they are separable by the type of rights to file objection/warning/opposition and announcements/advertisement of the conveyance (transfer) allowed under each system. Certificate of title are issued by the Land Registry and Transports are kept at the Deeds Registry.
